Ultimate Guide to Portland International Airport

Your Guide to Portland International Airport

Portland-ers love pretty much everything about their city. Whether that’s food choices, waterfront walks, stellar views of Mt. Hood, quick day trips to the Oregon Coast, or their…airport? Yes. We love our airport. Even if you’re not an aviation dork like I am, there is something alluring about Oregon’s largest airport.

Situated along the Columbia River between Interstate 5 and Interstate 205, the airport is centrally located for the Portland metro area.

So, here’s what you need to know about ‘PDX‘.

The Airport.

For the past several years, Portland International Airport has seen a few updates, most notably changes to the terminal itself.

While the changes have been covered by construction equipment, temporary walls, and scaffolding, in Summer 2024 the BIG new main terminal was open to the public to much fanfare, extremely positive reviews, and a bright future for the city.

For many cities, an airport is just a place to hop on or off of an airplane. For Portland, the airport is part of it’s culture. I mean, what other city makes airport carpet the Grand Marshal of a major parade?
